Connect your Google Sheets data to create beautiful, embeddable widgets.
Connecting Google Sheets
Click Connect Google Sheets
From the connection modal, click Connect Google Sheets. If you’ve connected before, you can select a previous account from the dropdown or add a new one.
Authorize with Google
You’ll be redirected to Google’s authorization page. Sign in with your Google account and grant Shareables access to your spreadsheets.
Select a spreadsheet
The Google Picker will open, allowing you to browse and select a spreadsheet from your Google Drive. You can search by name to find your file quickly.
Done!
Once selected, your spreadsheet is connected and you can start building your widget.
Shareables only requests access to read your spreadsheets. Your data remains secure and we never modify your files.
Managing Multiple Accounts
You can connect multiple Google accounts to Shareables:
- Switch accounts - Use the dropdown to select a different connected account
- Add new account - Click “Connect new account” to add another Google account
- Reconnect - If your connection expires, you’ll see a “Reconnect” badge
How Data Refreshes
Your published widget uses smart caching to balance performance with data freshness.
How it works
- When a visitor loads your widget, they see the cached version for fast loading
- In the background, a request checks for updated data from your data source
- If new data is found, the cache is refreshed
- The next visitor (or page refresh) will see the updated data
Cache refresh rate
The cache refreshes at most once per minute, even if multiple visitors are loading your widget. This prevents excessive requests to your data source while ensuring updates appear quickly.
Forcing a refresh
Republishing your widget will immediately clear the cache, so the next visitor sees the latest data.
Troubleshooting
Connection expired
Google tokens expire periodically. If you see a “Reconnect” badge, click it to re-authorize your account.
Spreadsheet not appearing
Make sure you have access to the spreadsheet in Google Drive. Shareables can only see spreadsheets you own or have been shared with you.
Authorization failed
Try clearing your browser cache and cookies, then attempt the connection again. If issues persist, get in touch.
