Excel / .xlsx Integration
Create widgets from Excel data — upload a .xlsx file directly or connect your Microsoft 365 account.
Two Ways to Connect
When you select Excel / .xlsx from the data source picker, you’ll see two options:
- Upload .xlsx File — Drag and drop any
.xlsxfile. No Microsoft account needed. - Connect Microsoft Account — Link your Microsoft 365 account to pull data from OneDrive workbooks.
Upload .xlsx File
Upload .xlsx File
The quickest way to get started — no account or sign-in required.
Select “Upload .xlsx File”
From the Excel method screen, click Upload .xlsx File.
Upload your file
Drag and drop a .xlsx file into the upload area, or click to browse. Files must be .xlsx format and under 10MB.
Select a worksheet
If your file has multiple worksheets, choose which one contains your data. If there’s only one worksheet, it’s selected automatically.
Done!
Your data is loaded and you can start building your widget.
Only .xlsx files are supported. If you have a .csv or .xls file, open it in Excel and save as .xlsx first.
Updating your data
After uploading, you can update your data at any time from the Source tab in the creator:
- Re-upload — Click the Re-upload File button to upload a new version of your spreadsheet. Your widget styling and field mappings are preserved as long as the column headers stay the same.
- Switch worksheets — If your file has multiple worksheets, use the worksheet dropdown to switch between them.
How Data Refreshes
Your published widget uses smart caching to balance performance with data freshness. You can choose between On widget load (default) or Real-time refresh modes.
For full details on how caching works and how to configure refresh modes, see Data Refresh.
Troubleshooting
Upload fails
Make sure your file is in .xlsx format and under 10MB. Other formats like .csv or .xls are not supported — open them in Excel and save as .xlsx first.
Workbook not appearing (Microsoft connection)
Make sure your Excel file is stored on OneDrive (not just locally). Only .xlsx files on OneDrive will appear in the workbook list.
Authorization failed (Microsoft connection)
Try clearing your browser cache and cookies, then attempt the connection again. If issues persist, get in touch.
Failed to fetch data
Check your internet connection and try again. If the issue persists, get in touch.
